Fertility, Postpartum, Perimenopause & Beyond
Women’s mental health isn’t one chapter: it’s a series of transitions. Some expected. Some overwhelming. Many quietly carried alone.
From fertility journeys to postpartum changes, from perimenopause to menopause, shifts in hormones, identity, relationships, and expectations can deeply impact emotional well-being. If you’ve been feeling anxious, exhausted, disconnected, irritable, or “not like yourself,” you’re not imagining it, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.
At The Sacramento Counselor Group, we offer compassionate, informed support for women across all stages of life.
Support Through Life’s Transitions
Women’s health experiences are deeply personal and often misunderstood or minimized.
Emotional challenges can show up during:
Fertility and family planning journeys
Pregnancy and postpartum adjustment
Returning to work or shifting family roles
Perimenopause and menopause
Changes in relationships, identity, or energy levels
Whether your experience feels intense or subtle, sudden or long-standing, your feelings deserve space, understanding, and care.
You Deserve Support at Every Stage
If you’re navigating a season of change, whether early adulthood, new parenthood, or midlife, support can make a meaningful difference.
Postpartum Care
Loneliness, disconnected, guilt, excessive worry, irritability, regret, fear, withdrawal, hopelessness… So many mothers experience overwhelming emotions after giving birth. If this is something you are experiencing, you are not alone and you deserve support.
Postpartum Depression (PPD) is a form of depression mothers can experience a few weeks to one year after giving birth. It often can be hard to identify, but is often recognized as “overwhelming" feelings and an inability to manage the stress of parenthood.
Whether this is your first child or your tenth, PPD can be present. You do not need to experience these challenges alone. We are here to hear you, see you, support you, and help you feel more like you again.
“Womenhood doesn’t always look the way we expect, this is why it is so important to talk about. You are not failing, you are struggling... there is a difference”
Hormonal and Premenstrual Based Care
PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) is a hormone-related condition that can significantly impact mood, emotions, relationships, and daily functioning in the days or weeks before a menstrual cycle. Symptoms may include intense irritability, anxiety, low mood, emotional sensitivity, or feeling overwhelmed or out of control.
Therapy support for PMDD often focuses on helping you understand your cycle, recognize emotional patterns, and develop tools to manage symptoms as they arise. Care may include emotional regulation skills, stress reduction strategies, boundary support, and coping tools to help you feel more grounded and supported throughout your cycle. With the right care, many people experience improved stability, self-compassion, and a greater sense of control.
Perimenopause and menopause are major life transitions that can impact emotional well-being just as much as physical health. Hormonal shifts during this time can affect mood, sleep, focus, energy, and stress tolerance, often leading to increased anxiety, irritability, low mood, or feeling “not like yourself.”
Support during this stage can help you better understand these changes, manage symptoms, and navigate this transition with more clarity, balance, and self-compassion.
How We Support Women’s Mental Health
Our clinicians provide thoughtful, individualized care that centers your lived experience. Support may include:
Emotional Support & Validation
A space to talk openly about anxiety, grief, irritability, mood changes, or feeling overwhelmed, without judgment or pressure to “be grateful” or “push through.”
Stress, Anxiety & Emotional Regulation
Practical tools to manage emotional ups and downs, sleep disruption, mental load, and chronic stress that often accompany hormonal and life transitions.
Identity & Life-Stage Transitions
Support for shifts in self-identity, body image, purpose, and sense of self that can arise throughout different stages of womanhood.
Relationship & Family Support
Navigating changes in partnerships, parenting dynamics, caregiving roles, boundaries, and communication.
Our goal is to help you feel more grounded, informed, and connected, not just coping, but supported.
Our Team & Approach
Our clinicians bring experience in women’s mental health and understand the emotional layers that come with fertility challenges, postpartum changes, and midlife transitions. We offer care that is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in real-world understanding, not dismissive or rushed.
Sexual Functioning Based Care
Sexual functioning concerns can affect desire, arousal, comfort, confidence, and overall connection — and they’re more common than most people realize. Changes related to stress, hormones, life transitions, relationships, medical factors, or emotional well-being can all play a role.
Sexual functioning care offers a supportive space to explore these concerns, build understanding, and develop tools that support comfort, communication, and confidence. Therapy may focus on education, emotional awareness, nervous system regulation, and relationship dynamics to help you reconnect with your body and your sense of ease and pleasure.
